Food Safety Alert: Possible Salmonella Contamination in Granola Bars & Cereal

Mesa County Public Health has been made aware of a recall involving various granola bars and cereal that were sold in all 50 states, and may have been distributed in Mesa County. Consumers should check their pantries for any of the recalled items and throw them out. The food is being recalled due to a potential contamination of Salmonella.

• Quaker Chewy Dips Chocolate Chips
• Quaker Puffed Granola Apple Cinnamon Cereal
• Quaker Simply Granola Oats, Honey & Almonds Cereal

Salmonella Description 

• Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
• Symptoms usually begin 6 hours to 6 days after infection and can last 4 to 7 days.

• Salmonella can lead to serious and sometimes deadly infections for young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems.
