Mesa County commits local match for Orchard Avenue Safety and Connectivity Project
Mesa County has ratified a letter to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration committing a $4,080,849.50 local match for the Orchard Avenue (E ½ Road) Safety and Connectivity Project, which is part of the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant.
The County has been awarded $21,359,962 through the 2025 BUILD Grant to improve a 1.75-mile segment of Orchard Avenue between 29 ½ Road and Warrior Way. This is a key east-west connector linking Grand Junction and the Clifton community. The project will add new sidewalks, bike facilities, safety upgrades and improved accessibility along the corridor.
A portion of the match includes a $1,080,000 Revitalizing Main Streets (RMS) Grant from the State. Combined with Mesa County’s contribution, the total project budget is $25,440,811.50.
This investment is a significant step toward enhancing transportation safety, mobility and connectivity for all residents. More information on this project will be shared as work progresses.
