contract for Phase 1 of the Coffman Road Reconstruction project was unanimously approved by the Board of County Commissioners at their December 17, 2024 public hearing

This contract entails rebuilding just under a mile of Coffman Road north of Whitewater, near the Road and Bridge Campus, south reaching the Spanish Trail head. Over the years, this stretch of road has experienced adverse effects from the expansive soil it sits on — especially during wetter seasons.

Project plans

  • Utilize Full-Depth Reclamation (FDR), a method that recycles existing road materials to stabilize and strengthen the subgrade, while raising the road section to enhance durability and reduce future wear and tear.
  • The project will widen 4,935 linear feet of the current 22-foot-wide road to 28 feet, offering safer and more accessible travel for all.

Coffman Road is a key connection for many in our community, and we’re committed to ensuring it’s durable and reliable for years to come.
