Stage 1 Fire Restrictions enacted

Effective beginning 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, until further notice. These restrictions apply to all private land and BLM managed public lands within the boundaries of the Grand Junction Field Office. For more information visit the Fire Restrictions webpage.

There is a new way to gather, compete and enjoy the outdoors at Long Family Memorial Park, 3117 F Road.

Mesa County has installed two new, regulation-distance cornhole boards on the park’s north end — one near the Mount Garfield shelter and the other near the William J. shelter.

The addition replaces the former horseshoe pits. The new concrete boards feature a polished surface designed to help bags slide smoothly toward the target.

Crews are finishing final touches in the area as sod is installed and irrigation water becomes available.

Kow before you play

  • Bring your own bags. Mesa County does not provide cornhole bags.
  • First-come, first-served. The boards are open to the public.
  • Shelter reservations apply. If a shelter is reserved, the group may use the boards during its rental time. When not reserved, anyone is welcome to play.

Mesa County Parks encourages residents to try out the new feature and share feedback. If the boards are well-used and well-loved, similar installations could be considered at other county parks and shelters.

Long Family Memorial Park offers open space, shelters and room to gather. The new cornhole boards add one more way for neighbors, families and friends to connect.
