Farewell, Pete Baier!
After 28 years of dedicated service to our community — Mesa County Administrator Pete Baier will retire on Jan. 3, 2025. His dedication and leadership have left a lasting mark on Mesa County, setting us up for continued success as we transition to a new chapter.
Pete began his career with Mesa County in 1996. Over the years, he has worn many hats, including Public Works Director and, most recently, County Administrator since 2019. Under his leadership, we’ve seen projects come to life, such as the 30 Road Underpass, the 29 Road Bridge, and the Palisade Plunge. Pete’s tenure also included navigating us through some of the most challenging times, including the Pine Gulch Fire and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through it all, Pete exemplified professionalism, kindness, and dedication to Mesa County. He has mentored many and is a leader who values collaboration and puts the community first. His care for his colleagues and his visionary leadership made Mesa County not just a workplace but a place we are all proud to serve.
Pete, you will be sorely missed. On behalf of everyone at Mesa County, thank you for your years of hard work, your vision, and your tireless commitment to our community. We wish you all the best in retirement as you embark on new adventures, spend more time with your family, and enjoy the well-earned fruits of your labor. You’ve genuinely left a legacy of excellence.
Congratulations on a remarkable career!
