This week at the Sept. 24 administrative public hearing, the Board of Commissioners approved a letter to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) regarding the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area Business Plan.

The BLM has proposed camping and Individual Special Recreation Permit (ISRP) fees as outlined in the draft Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area Business Plan.

Mesa County states in the letter that fees should be set at a level that does not discourage individuals and families from experiencing our public lands; striking a balance between affordability and sustainability is key to fostering a positive relationship between the public and the stewardship of our lands.
