Mesa County is accepting applications for a volunteer position on the Mesa County Public Library District Board of Trustees. Applications are open from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, 2026.

The selected trustee’s term will run from Jan. 1, 2027, through Jan. 1, 2031. The Board of County Commissioners appoints trustees.

Under Colorado law, the board adopts and oversees the library district’s budget, bylaws and policies. Trustees also prepare an annual financial report for the Board of County Commissioners and conduct long-range planning. The board governs the library district, while library staff manages day-to-day operations.

Trustees serve as unpaid volunteers. Regular board meetings are generally held on the last Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Library in Grand Junction. Meeting information and reports are available on the Mesa County Public Library District Board of Trustees page.

To learn how to apply and what happens after an application is submitted, visit the county’s volunteer application process page. Applications for this position must be submitted by Oct. 31 through the volunteer opportunities page.
