Stage 2 Fire Restrictions enacted

Effective beginning 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2026, until further notice. These restrictions apply to all private land and BLM managed public lands within the boundaries of the Grand Junction Field Office. For more information visit the Fire Restrictions webpage.

At the Tuesday, Aug. 11 public hearing, Commissioners approved a $2.2 million contract for the replacement of air conditioning units on the Mesa County Justice Center.

The Roof Top Units (RTU) will be installed by Comfort Air of Grand Junction, the company awarded the $2,223,684 contract. The units provide heating and cooling to the building.

The current units are 26 years old, and getting parts to repair them has become more difficult in recent years. The industry standard life expectancy for RTUs is 20 years.

The installation is expected to take one to two months to finish. The work is scheduled to be done at the end of February 2027.
