Public invited to weigh in on future development rules

When and how development occurs can affect homes, farms, businesses and neighborhoods. Mesa County is updating the Land Development Code, which guides growth and development in unincorporated areas.

During a recent public hearing, Commissioner Bobbie Daniel explained that the update will establish clear rules before future development proposals come forward. Having those rules in place helps residents, property owners and businesses understand what to expect and how proposals will be reviewed.

The proposed update is scheduled to go before the Planning Commission at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, in the public hearing room at the Old Mesa County Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave. The meeting is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend and share their input.
