Inside the partnership that supports successful reentry
A recent collaboration between Mesa County Community Corrections and state parole staff is strengthening how individuals transition back into the community — with better coordination and stronger support from day one.
On March 18, Mesa County Community Corrections staff Angela Coca and Don Webb joined Parole Case Manager Jacob Reigel at Delta Correctional Facility for an in-reach session with staff and residents preparing for release.
The team met with correctional facility staff to walk through how Mesa County’s Community Corrections program works, providing the information needed to make informed placement decisions and better prepare individuals for transition. Topics included placement expectations and eligibility, housing and daily structure, treatment requirements and programming, and the custody levels and risk assessments used for placement.
After the meeting, the team held a second session with residents currently in the pre-release process. Residents had the opportunity to ask questions and address concerns early, reducing uncertainty and helping them prepare for a successful transition.
Strong communication between agencies improves outcomes. This effort helps ensure individuals are placed in the right programs, support safer and more successful reentry, and strengthens coordination between local and state partners
Following the visit, Coca and Webb were recognized by state parole staff for their service, professionalism, and commitment to the people they serve.
They received challenge coins and certificates on April 8 in recognition of their work to strengthen this partnership.
Thank you to Angela, Don and the teams working behind the scenes to help people return to the community prepared, supported and set up for success. Your work makes a difference every day.
