Man sentenced for role in 2022 shooting

Jeff Brewer, 29, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit second degree murder and conspiracy to commit burglary. He was sentenced Friday to 30 years for the murder charge and five years for the burglary charge.
Brewer was arrested following the shooting death of Lucas Terry at a camper on 22 Road.
Witnesses said Terry was shot in the chest during a struggle for a gun with Brewer, who had come to the camper with two other people, Caleb Jones and Jessica Terry, to collect some possessions. Lucas Terry died at the scene.
Jones was sentenced to 14 years in prison for his role in the incident. Terry is scheduled for a jury trial starting Dec. 18.
MAN SENTENCED IN CHILD PORN CASE
man accused of possessing child pornography and distributing it on social media has been sentenced to 60 days in jail and four years of intensive supervised probation.
Cheyenne Burke, 26, of Clifton, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child, a class four felony, after being arrested in May 2022. Three other counts of sexual exploitation of a child were dismissed by the court.
Burke must register as a sex offender, according to court documents, but is not considered a sexual violent predator.
MAN GETS 12 YEARS IN FENTANYL DEATH CASE
A man accused of distributing fentanyl resulting in the death of a person in 2021 was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison Monday.
Junior Highline was arrested May 20, 2022. He pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl resulting in death in April 2023.
Highline was accused of distributing hundreds of counterfeit Oxycodone pills that actually contained fentanyl. Some of those pills were distributed, through two intermediaries, to a person identified in court documents as “C.C.,” who died after using the pills.
The 12-year prison sentence is to be followed by three years of supervised release, according to court documents.
FIVE YEARS PROBATION FOR HIT AND RUN
A man accused of hitting a 28-year-old bicyclist with a car in November was sentenced to five years probation early in July.
Carlos Maes, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, a class four felony.
Maes was arrested in December after Grand Junction Police said he was identified as the driver of a light-colored sedan that struck and hospitalized Skyler Diaz in Orchard Mesa.
Diaz suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital.
