Adult Protection Services in Mesa County
Mesa County Adult Protection Services (APS) strives for the highest quality of life available to meet at-risk adults' individual needs by providing protective services. When APS has determined the at-risk adult is safe and protected, support, advocacy and connection resources to reduce future mistreatment are provided.
An at-risk adult is anyone 18 or older who is vulnerable to mistreatment or self-neglect due to physical or cognitive limitations that prevent them from securing essential care for their health, safety, and well-being.
APS investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment while also helping adults access services that promote independence, self-determination, and dignity. Types of abuse include:
- Physical
- Sexual
- Caregiver Neglect
- Self Neglect
- Exploitation
- Harmful Acts
If you are concerned about an adult in any of the above areas, you are encouraged to call the Mesa County Department of Human Services intake line at 970-248-2888. You may also visit the MCDHS Adult Protection webpage.
