Bear Necessities: A Support Program for Mesa County Foster Children
February 27, 2025
Children who come into the care of Mesa County Department of Human Services often come with few or no belongings. They are scared and uncertain of what comes next. To help them feel more comfortable, they are welcomed into the Bear Necessities closet, where they can pick out personal items just for them.
Bear Necessities accepts items for children ages 0 through 18, sizes newborn through adult. Please donate new items only. Some suggestions are:
- Suitcases
- Clothing for all sizes
- Pajamas, coats and jackets
- Shoes
- Twin or crib size bedsheet sets and blankets
- Hairbrushes, facial soaps and acne care products
- New car seats (all-in-one)
- Individual size snack items such as crackers, cookies and chips
- Toys
Items can be donated by dropping them off at the Mesa County Department of Human Services, 510 29 ½ Rd. Please attach your name and address so we can acknowledge your gift.
If you have any questions about what to donate, please contact our Foster Parent inquiry line at (970) 248-2794.
