LEAP application season closes April 30th
Mesa County residents still have time to apply for the Colorado Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP). The program, which helps eligible households pay a portion of their winter heating costs, ends for the season on April 30th.
LEAP runs each year from November through April and provides assistance with heating bills, equipment repairs, and the replacement of inoperable heating tools. It also covers repairs or replacements of primary heating systems, including furnaces and wood-burning stoves.
If you think you might qualify, now’s the time to act. The program is federally funded and open to income-eligible Coloradans. LEAP income guidelines:
- Household of 1: Max monthly gross income $3,382
- Household of 2: $4,423
- Household of 3: $5,464
- Household of 4: $6,505
- Household of 5: $7,545
- Household of 6: $8,586
- Household of 8: $8,977
- Each additional person: Add $195
Apply before April 30th to receive help this season. LEAP applications are available at the Mesa County Department of Human Services or can be downloaded from the Colorado State LEAP website. To request a paper application or apply over the phone, call 1-866-HEAT-HELP.
