The Colorado Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is a federally funded initiative that helps eligible residents pay a portion of their winter heating costs. Running from November through April, it assists with heating expenses, equipment repairs and replacing inoperable heating tools. LEAP also supports repairs or replacements of primary heating systems such as furnaces or wood-burning stoves.

Income guidelines for LEAP:

  • Household size of one: Maximum gross monthly income $3,382
  • Household size of two: Maximum gross monthly income $4,423
  • Household size of three: Maximum gross monthly income $5,464
  • Household size of four: Maximum gross monthly income $6,505
  • Household size of five: Maximum gross monthly income $7,545
  • Household size of six: Maximum gross monthly income $8,586
  • Household size of seven: Maximum gross monthly income $8,781
  • Household size of eight: Maximum gross monthly income $8,977
  • Each additional household: $195

LEAP applications are available at the Mesa County Department of Human Services or can be printed from the Colorado State LEAP website. To request a paper application be mailed to you or to apply over the phone, please call 1-866-HEAT-HELP.
