The latest KAFM Senior Corner segment introduces listeners to the work of the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Colorado and the services available to older adults across the region.

Host Amanda de Bock, director of Mesa County Meals on Wheels, welcomes Heather Jones, director of the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Colorado as the new co-host of Senior Corner. Heather provides an overview of the Area Agency on Aging and the programs and resources it helps connect older adults and their families with, including the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program, Meals on Wheels, Colorado Legal Services and Aging and Disability Resources through Hilltop.

During the conversation, Heather also highlights the reach of the Area Agency on Aging. In the last fiscal year, 6,005 older adults were served across the four counties within the agency’s service area. In Mesa County alone, more than 30% of the population is age 60 or older, highlighting the importance of accessible services and resources for older adults and their families.

Senior Corner is a monthly segment featured during the KAFM Community Affairs hour, providing information and conversation about issues, programs and resources that matter to older adults in our community.
