Wildfire smoke from nearby fires is impacting air quality in Mesa County. Mesa County Public Health urges people to use caution when spending time outside.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued an Air Quality Alert for parts of the Western Slope.

If the smoke is thick or worsens in your area, here are some suggestions:

  • Stay indoors, especially if you have heart or respiratory conditions, are very young, or elderly.
  • Limit outdoor activity during moderate to heavy smoke.
  • Limit the usage of evaporative coolers.
  • Use air filters to reduce indoor particulates.

A No Burn Advisory remains in effect for Mesa County. Burning of any kind, including agricultural burning is not permitted during an advisory. We will update the community through our website and social media once conditions have improved and the advisory is lifted.

For information on current air quality conditions visit our Air Quality page.
