Food Safety Alert: chocolate fudge recalled mold concerns

Mesa County Public Health (MCPH) has been made aware of a recall involving Authentik Fudge chocolate fudge with nuts. The products were distributed at TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores nationwide and may have been sold in Mesa County. The food is being recalled due to a possible mold contamination. The company initiated the recall after a consumer complained about some mold pieces inside the purchased box. The company also found some sealed products at the manufacturing location had beginning signs of mold. No illnesses have been reported in connection to this recall.
Description of recalled products
- Packaged in 5.6 ounce boxes.
- Labeled MONTREAL FUDGE Chocolate Fudge with nuts.
- The lot numbers on the back of the box include:
- Lot 0241500805 with expiration date of 2025/MR/01.
- Lot 0241690105 with expiration date of 2025/MR/17.
- Lot 0241690205 with expiration date of 2025/MR/17.
What should consumers do
- Consumers should check their pantries for any of the recalled items.
- Throw away the products or return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund.
- Visit the FDA website for more information about the recalled items.
- Anyone with concerns about illness after eating these products should contact their doctor.
