MESA 19.88-G.26 Structure Replacement Project on schedule

The Mesa-19.88-G.26 Canyon Creek Drive culvert replacement project is making significant progress. Our aim is to replace the old culverts with a new crossing that meets hydraulic standards while minimizing the impact on landowners, utilities, and natural habitats in the area.

To ensure traffic flow is not disrupted, we broke the removal and installation process into two phases. Phase one is now complete, with all old metal culverts removed and the excavation process finished. The new concrete culverts have been installed, and crews are currently backfilling the culverts to complete phase two.

Backfilling of the culverts began on Wednesday, March 29, and should be completed in a few days. Once done, the permanent road location will be graded, and two lanes will be open to vehicle traffic. The surface will still be road base, but this will not disrupt traffic flow.

Looking ahead, in April and May, we will work on constructing the concrete headwalls and wing walls around the new culverts, final roadway grading and paving, site restoration, and seeding. We are still on schedule to complete the project on May 12.
