Did you know Mesa County recycles old asphalt to help maintain local roads? Contractors and local governments are welcome to drop off removed asphalt at our designated yard, 971 Coffman Road, in Whitewater.

Once the pile is large enough, a contractor crushes the material down to a half-inch aggregate. This recycled product is then reused on county roads. From raw millings to the finished product, it’s just one way we’re putting sustainability into action.

Recycling asphalt helps Mesa County save money, reduce waste and keep our infrastructure strong. To learn more about the process, please view the video below or visit https://www.mesacounty.us/departments-and-services/public-works
