Our Road and Bridge Supervisor Matt Nichols drives along a few spring Mesa County road projects and explains the methods used to improve our roads in the most efficient and cost-effective way.

The video highlights three methods our crews are currently using around the county, including:

  • Re-blading gravel roads to fill in potholes, washboards and other surface irregularities.
  • A magnesium chloride (mag chloride) treatment on unpaved roads to control dust and help bind the road to lengthen its life.
  • Crack seal, slurry seal and cape seal treatments to prevent moisture entry, smooth the surface and add longevity to the road.

These proactive methods help stretch taxpayer dollars by preventing bigger, more expensive repairs down the road.

Stay tuned on our website and social media platforms for updates on road projects moving forward in Mesa County.
