Sheriff's Office opens new substation in Clifton

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office has officially relocated its Clifton substation to 126 2nd Street in Clifton. During the ribbon cutting on Thursday, Mesa County Sheriff Todd Rowell said, “Today, we move into a facility that is county-owned, that is built for us, that meets the needs of the community. We’re excited.”

The new substation encompasses 3,568 square feet and will house the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Law Operations Division. The new site was strategically chosen to provide deputies with improved access, enabling them to respond to calls more swiftly to better serve the citizens of Mesa County. The number of computer workstations for the deputies has tripled. It will increase efficiencies in completing case reports and provide more time for them to patrol the unincorporated areas of Mesa County. The building also includes several offices, an interview room, and a small kitchen area.

The substation will not have clerical staff or walk-up services. However, it will be fully operational for deputies to handle tasks like writing reports, making phone calls, holding meetings, and conducting interviews.
