Christmas is behind us, but the aftermath of all those gifts and gadgets is still here. Used batteries from toys, decorations, and devices might pile up soon — so now’s the perfect time to think about where they go next.

Many used batteries contain chemicals like cadmium, lead, or lithium, which can harm our soil, water, and air if not disposed of properly. Improper disposal can also lead to overheating, short circuits, or even fires.

Mesa County makes it easy to dispose of all batteries and household hazardous waste responsibly. Drop them off safely at the Mesa County Hazardous Waste Collection Facility.

Location: 3071 Highway 50 in Grand Junction

Drop off: Wednesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Let’s start the new year off right! Recycle batteries and hazardous waste responsibly to protect your home, community, and environment.
