The Career Development Program, which is also referred to as the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), is a federally funded employment and training program.

The program focuses on providing services to prepare individuals for full-time, self-sufficient employment. We have a successful work-based learning program in which we can help develop skills and relationships through paid internships or on-the-job training that leads to permanent employment. Some of our other services include:

  • Job Coaching and Referrals
  • Resume Assistance
  • Interviewing Preparation
  • Information on Community Resources and Programs
  • Supportive Services to obtain or maintain employment
  • Job Shadowing, Pre-Apprenticeships, and other Career Exploration Activities
  • Occupational Skills Training

Application process

To apply, complete the Career Development Customer Summary. A case manager from the team will contact you to discuss the program and outline the next steps. It’s important to note that this is not an entitlement program. As part of the application process, individuals will undergo an assessment to evaluate job readiness, financial, social and supportive needs, employment and training requirements, labor market demand, and the potential for successful program completion.

Eligibility requirements 

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • US citizen or non-citizen authorized to work in the US
  • Meet Selective Service registration requirements (males only)
  • Applicants may be required to meet income guidelines and/or documented barrier(s) to employment
  • If seeking Classroom Training, prerequisites will be required. Your assigned Career Development Case Manager will review these with you.

After obtaining employment or completing training, we will follow up with you for six months to assist with job retention and advancement opportunities.
