Mesa County Child Support Services (CSS) is proud to announce that we’ve been recognized by the Colorado Office of Economic Security Division of Child Support Services for our outstanding performance in 2024. Among large counties across the state, Mesa County received two major awards: Most Improved Case Initiation and Most Improved Percent of Cases with a Payment on Arrears.

Most Improved: Case Initiation (Large County, 2024)

Ongoing training in 2024 has strengthened our team’s skills and consistency, leading to improved case initiation. Adding a second staff member to case initiation has further increased timeliness and responsiveness. This honor recognizes the improvement of  opening new child support cases within State required timeframes among Colorado's large counties.

Most Improved: Payment on Arrears (Large County, 2024)

Mesa County Child Support Services earned the “Most Improved Percent of Cases with a Payment on Arrears” award among large counties, recognizing the unit’s focused and effective efforts to increase arrears collections in 2024. These targeted strategies directly contributed to more consistent payments toward past-due child support, helping improve financial stability for families.

“These awards aren’t just accolades as they reflect the dedication of our entire Child Support Services unit,” says Workforce Center Director Heather Nara. “A big thank you to our child support staff who continue to look for efficiencies, dig into the details to ensure accuracy and continue to work hard to ensure  families  get the support they deserve.”
