Workforce Development Month 2026
September is Workforce Development Month, and the Mesa County Workforce Center is celebrating with a series of free, in-person workshops and events designed to help job seekers sharpen their skills, prepare for employment and connect with local employers, while helping businesses strengthen their workforce.
Whether you are getting ready for the job fair, updating your resume, preparing for an interview or exploring new approaches to hiring and developing talent, these events offer practical tools, resources and opportunities to make meaningful connections.
Job Fair Game Plan | 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3
Learn how to prepare for and make the most of a job fair, including tips for connecting with employers and making a strong impression.
Resume Basics | 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10
Learn the fundamentals of creating a resume that highlights your skills, experience and qualifications.
Mesa County Job Fair | 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16
The Mesa County Workforce Center is participating in the Statewide Workforce Colorado Career Fair. Join us in person to explore new opportunities, connect with local employers and meet talented job seekers looking for the next step in their career. The first 15 minutes of the event is reserved for veterans and eligible spouses. Employers and job seekers can learn more online.
Interview Prep | 10-11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18
Build confidence and prepare for your next interview with strategies and tips to help you put your best foot forward.
Skills First Talent Development Training | 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21
This interactive workshop will help local businesses explore a skills-first approach to recruiting, hiring and retaining employees by focusing on the skills and competencies needed for success. Employers will learn practical strategies they can apply within their organizations, including skills mapping, writing skills-first job descriptions and skills-first screening and interviewing.
