Available recreation opportunities
Mesa County is home to a wide range of trails and open spaces with several organizations creating and managing them. The information below is a small selection of the available recreation opportunities.
Bureau of Land Management
The BLM oversees much of the public land and trails in Mesa County. Recreational activities include fishing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and OHV use. Look up specific trails by searching one of these areas: Debeque, Dominguez-Escalante Area, Fruita, Gateway, Grand Junction, and Palisade.

Colorado National Monument
Made up of plateaus, canyons and sheer rock walls, the Monument area offers visitors the chance to bike, camp, climb, hike, and maybe even glimpse desert bighorn sheep.

Colorado State Parks
Mesa County has three main state parks. Highline Lake offers visitors a chance to use their motorized and non-motorized watercraft. While the James M. Robb State Parks, five different parks renamed in honor of a visionary, provides a wide range of activities. Vega State Park offers a chance for visitors to experience higher elevation activities and weather. Come camp, hike, and play in the water!

COPMOBA - Grand Valley Canyons
The local mountain bike chapter who's motto is to "build, maintain, and advocate" for mountain biking in the Grand Valley. For more information on the biking trails in the Grand Valley, head to the GVC website.

National Forest Service
Mesa County houses the Grand Valley Ranger district which includes the Grand Mesa and Uncompahgre National Forests. Recreation includes biking, fishing, hiking, hunting, and skiing.
