Inmate funds

Inmates are allowed to spend up to $100 a week on commissary items. Commissary is ordered on Wednesdays and delivered on Saturdays. 

Depositing money on an inmate’s commissary account 

To make cash or credit card deposits on the lobby kiosk:

  • You must have a government ID to use the kiosk
  • The kiosk does not accept $1 bills or coins

Detention Lobby hours: 

Monday - Friday

8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (excluding holidays)

Inmate property release

Inmate property release

  • Inmates still in Booking can have some property released to a designated person during business hours.
  • Inmates who have been housed may have some property released to a designated person Monday - Friday at 11:00 a.m.
  • Inmates that have left the MCDF for the Department of Corrections may have their remaining property released to a designated person Monday - Friday at 11:00 a.m.

Property release process

  • Inmates must complete a Property Release Form before the designated person arrives.
    • The Property Release Form is located on the inmate tablet in Booking.                      
  • The designated person must have a valid government-issued photo ID to receive an inmate's property.
  • Property releases will not occur on any County-observed holidays.

All inmate personal mail is delivered digitally via a tablet

Paper letters may be sent via the US Postal Service

Legal mail should still be sent directly to the Detention Facility.

Packages

Paperback books and magazines will ONLY be accepted when mailed directly from the publisher.

  • Paperback books must be sent directly from BarnesandNoble.com or Amazon.com will be accepted
  • Books sent from local bookstores will not be accepted
  • The content of the book or magazine must be appropriate, or it will be returned to the sender

Please allow several extra days for package contents to reach an inmate due to the following:

  • Sorting and Screening
  • Weekends
  • Postal and/or county holidays, etc.

Inmate email

You can communicate with inmates electronically

  • Set up an account on the Getting Out website
  • Once an inmate is housed
    • They may have access to tablet-like devices
    • The tablet will permit them to send and receive electronic messages similar to email
  • Not all housing areas have access to tablet-like devices
