Stage 1 Fire Restrictions enacted

Effective beginning 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, until further notice. These restrictions apply to all private land and BLM managed public lands within the boundaries of the Grand Junction Field Office. For more information visit the Fire Restrictions webpage.

Park Description

  • The Arboretum is located along the south edge of the main parking lot.
  • This demonstration and research garden is maintained by the Colorado State University Extension Office.
  • The Arboretum is a garden over 50,000 square feet utilized for demonstration and research of local ornamental grasses, shrubs and trees.
  • This 'living library' is a space where plant lovers, school groups, and others can come to learn more about native Western Colorado and Eastern Utah plants.
  • A walking path (wheelchair friendly) meanders through the gardens and leads to a small outdoor amphitheater.

Amphitheater

  • The Arboretum includes a small amphitheater, which can seat up to 200 people.
  • It can be used for environmental and educational programs.
