Inmate Health and Wellness Services
The healthcare staff at the Mesa County Detention Facility provides care for all inmates regardless of legal custody status.

Medical staff is on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Inmate medical, mental health, and dental services are contracted through NaphCare.
Medical Staffing
The medical staff includes:
- Registered Nurses
- Licensed Practical Nurses
- Nurse Practitioners
- Physicians
- Dentists
- Licensed Professional Counselors
- Mental Health Clinicians
- Medical Assistants
Mental health staff are on duty seven days a week.
Preventive and chronic care services are provided by experienced medical staff for:
- Dental care
- Diabetes care
- Radiology
- Laboratory services
Specialty services are provided off-site by community medical specialists when necessary.
Specialty care is coordinated between the on-site medical director and the off-site specialists.
Health Background Screenings
During the booking process, inmates are screened to determine what medical or mental health issues must be addressed immediately.
- Nurses conduct medical health assessments to evaluate:
- The inmate's general health
- Any history of medical problems
Inmate Health Inquiries from Family and Friends
In order to best care for the inmates of the Mesa County Detention Facility, a Family & Friends Line has been established. This communication program from NaphCare provides assistance for loved ones seeking or sharing medical information related to an inmate.
Release of Information Process
A patient-completed Release of Information form must be on file before information can be shared with family and friends in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) laws. Information will only be shared about the patient (inmate) with individuals named on the Release of Information form by the patient (inmate).
Calls and emails requests to the Friends & Family Line will be answered by a dedicated team of nurses from NaphCare with up-to-date information. Please note, support is provided between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Central Time.
