Mesa County Public Health has issued a No Burn Advisory starting Wednesday, June 18 at 6 p.m. through Saturday, June 21 at 9 p.m. due to fire danger.

Recycling is a positive action that everyone can take to support our community, the economy, and the environment, although recycling may not always be the right answer. Knowing what items can be recycled at the Mesa County Landfill is the first step in responsible recycling, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve energy, and prevent unnecessary items from filling landfills.

The Board of Mesa County Commissioners formally approved participation as a co-plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging recent revisions to Colorado’s air quality regulations at their May 20 public hearing. The lawsuit opposes the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission's (AQCC) Feb​. 14 enactment of new greenhouse gas rules, which could force the closure of local energy facilities.

The Mesa County Old Courthouse, 544 Rood Ave., in Grand Junction, is closed on Friday, June 20, 2025, for contractors to replace the air handling units on the roof of the original and annex buildings.

As temperatures rise in Mesa County, so does the risk of heat-related illness in pets left inside vehicles. Even in seemingly mild days, the interior of a parked car can heat up rapidly, posing a serious threat to dogs.
