To protect the region's water supply and upgrade aging systems, the Commissioners have approved critical funding and project support across Mesa County:
- Shoshone Water Rights Preservation: Allocated $1 million toward the permanent protection of the historic Shoshone water rights, helping secure reliable flows along the Colorado River.
- De Beque Water Treatment Upgrades: Dedicated federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to modernize municipal water treatment facilities in the Town of De Beque.
- Irrigation System Improvements: Supported major regional grant applications and engineering upgrades, including the Orchard Mesa Check Infrastructure, the Grand Valley Water Users’ Association headworks, and local secondary water system expansions.
