Starting Jan. 1, 2025, Animal Services will operate under a separate enforcement and services model, a shift in how animal-related responsibilities are managed within Mesa County.

Grant secured for local eviction assistance program
Mesa County has approved a grant agreement with Grand Valley Catholic Outreach (GVCO) to provide up to $210,000 to support their Stop Eviction! rental assistance initiative. The total grant award includes a 14.5% County match of $30,450 and $179,550 in federal funds. This funding will aid the program in its mission to prevent families with children from facing homelessness.

Risk Limiting Audit Complete 2024 Primary Election Results
This week, Mesa County Elections completed the Risk-Limiting Audit (RLA) on the 2024 Primary Election. In this audit, a bipartisan board compared paper ballots from the election to the recorded votes to ensure accurate results. The audit results were 100% clear of discrepancies.

Mesa County becomes involved in development of Dolores River Travel Management Plan
Mesa County is now classified as a Cooperating Agency in the Dolores River Travel Management Plan (TMP) following the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Commissioners’ July 9 administrative public hearing. The MOU between Mesa County and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Moab Field Office will allow Mesa County to participate in the development process for the TMP.
