A public assistance fraud case investigated by Mesa County Department of Human Services (MCDHS) and referred to the District Attorney’s Office has concluded with guilty pleas and a significant restitution order.

On Nov. 25 at the administrative public hearing, the Board of Mesa County Commissioners approved the final 2025 budget amendment for this year, authorizing additional revenues and expenditures before the 2026 budget adoption at the Dec. 9 public hearing. Amendments to the budget include recognizing new revenues and authorizing appropriations based on new information.

Coffman Road is fully open north of Whitewater, where our teams have been working since March 2025 to widen and replace the road. The road upgrade spans from slightly north of Hookless Boulevard to the Old Spanish Trail trailhead.

The Mesa County Workforce Center (MCWFC) is offering free virtual workshops in December.

This Thanksgiving, the Lighthouse Program was able to gather donations from the Fruita Stake of the Church of Latter Day Saints to give back to the community. On Nov. 26, 2025, the Lighthouse Program gave away 40 full Thanksgiving dinners — including turkeys, sides and desserts to families in need.

Mesa County Administrator Todd Hollenbeck was recognized on Dec. 2 by the Association of Colorado County Administrators at the Colorado Counties, Inc. winter conference with the 2025 Rising Star Award, which honors an administrator who strengthens county operations, leads with integrity, advances strategic goals, and delivers meaningful improvements for the community.
