Mesa County Department of Human Services (MCDHS), established in 1936, provides multiple services to the citizens of Mesa County.

  • The Department is administered by the Mesa County Commissioners, acting as the County Board of Human Services.
  • MCDHS employs approximately 315 employees, providing supportive or direct services to clients with a $32 million budget.
  • Of the $32 million, 17-19% is county share with the rest being state or federal funds.

Colorado is one of 13 state-supervised, county-administered states, which means that MCDHS administers state and federal programs locally to Mesa County residents. These programs are administered pursuant to state and federal statutes and guidelines.
