Mesa County Animal Services transitions to a separate enforcement and services model
Mesa County is implementing significant changes to its animal services operations to improve animal welfare and enhance public safety. Starting Jan. 1, 2025, Animal Services will operate under a separate enforcement and services model, a shift in how animal-related responsibilities are managed within Mesa County.

The County purchases property in Clifton to allow for 32 ½ Road and E Road connection
The Board of Mesa County Commissioners approved a contract to buy the property at 3249 E Road in Clifton for $315,000 during their Aug. 27 public hearing. The purchase of this property is necessary to safely complete the County’s 32 1⁄2 Road Corridor and E Road Corridor Improvement Projects — and will allow Mesa County to connect 32 ½ Road with E Road.

Human Services update during public hearing
In November 2023, Mesa County Department of Human Services (MCDHS) leadership met to discuss cross-collaboration ideas in an effort to improve the services and support for young adults ages 16-24. Cross-training began a few months later with a vision for the collaborative work between Child Welfare and the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Program. The population served includes youth and young adults with barriers to achieving safety, stability, and meaningful employment.
