Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid Program) is a health care benefit program for minor children, parents of minor children and pregnant women who meet income and resource eligibility guidelines established by the State of Colorado and the federal government.
- Individuals eligible for Medicaid will receive a Medicaid Authorization Card (MAC) in the mail.
- Medicaid recipients are required to designate a primary care physician.
Colorado Medicaid pays for most health care services including, but not limited to
- Inpatient and outpatient hospitalization
- Physician services
- Family planning
- Immunizations
- Transportation to medical services
- Community mental health services

The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing administers the Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus programs as well as a variety of other programs for Colorado's low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
Health First Colorado
Health First Colorado is public health insurance for Coloradans who qualify. Medicaid is funded jointly by the federal government and Colorado state government, and is administered by the Department of Health Care Policy & Financing. Each state manages its own Medicaid program differently.
Child Health Plan Plus
Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) is low-cost health insurance for Colorado's uninsured children and pregnant women. CHP+ is public health insurance for children and pregnant women who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford private health insurance.
Mesa County Public Health Department
Public Health programs are available to meet a variety of needs. Grand Valley Connects can help with housing, finding a counselor and many other supports. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) helps those who are pregnant or breastfeeding or those who have children under the age of five.
